1. Magnetic Fixture vs. Mechanical Clamping
Magnetic V-Blocks have built-in permanent magnets that directly attract ferromagnetic round or square bars, providing quick and seamless fixation. Conventional hard V-Blocks rely solely on screws or clamps for clamping, requiring additional tightening steps.
2. Wider Applicability
Magnetic V-Blocks have magnetic properties on the V-surface, bottom, and sides, making them suitable for use on a variety of work surfaces, such as grinders, scribing tables, and inspection tables. Conventional V-Blocks, on the other hand, only provide geometric positioning and lack additional clamping force.
3. Easy Operation and Quick Release
Release the workpiece with a simple push or adjustment of the magnetic switch, eliminating the need for disassembly. Conventional V-Blocks require loosening bolts or clamps, which is less efficient. 4. Maintaining Machining Accuracy
The magnetic V-Block features a high-precision ground V-surface, ensuring uniform magnetic force distribution without causing excessive deformation or displacement, making it suitable for high-precision machining and inspection. Conventional V-Blocks can cause slight workpiece movement if clamped unevenly.
How to properly use the magnetic V-Block on different work surfaces?
1. Ensure the work surface is clean and flat.
Before using the magnetic V-Block, remove iron filings, oil, and other impurities from the work surface to prevent weakening the magnetic force or causing unwanted attraction.
2. Select the appropriate magnetic strength.
For light workpieces, use full magnetic force. For heavy or long workpieces, adjust the magnetic force switch or install a non-slip pad on the bottom of the V-Block to prevent the workpiece from slipping or tilting.
3. Use a protective pad or isolation layer.
When machining delicate surfaces or non-ferromagnetic materials, place a thin non-magnetic spacer (such as polyimide film) between the V-Block and the workpiece to maintain magnetic force and prevent scratching.
4. Check the positioning accuracy of the magnetic V-Block.
Regularly use a hardness tester or optical instrument to check the V-face angle and surface flatness of the V-Block to ensure that the magnetic fixation does not affect the processing dimensional accuracy.
